Role profile
AI Context Engineer
Ground agents and intelligent workflows in authoritative enterprise knowledge, policy, evidence and operating context.
The mandate
Design the context architectures that allow AI systems to retrieve, interpret and use enterprise knowledge reliably. You will connect models and agents to governed concepts, authoritative sources, permissions, policies and evidence while preserving traceability.
What you will own
- Translate AI use cases into explicit context, knowledge, tool and control requirements.
- Design grounding patterns using ontology, knowledge graphs, metadata, retrieval and structured data.
- Build context assembly, retrieval and agent-tool integration components.
- Establish source authority, provenance, temporal relevance and permission-aware retrieval.
- Create evaluations for semantic consistency, context quality, hallucination risk and safe action.
- Integrate agents with APIs, data products, semantic layers and governed enterprise tools.
- Work with business experts to make operational policies interpretable by intelligent systems.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience developing LLM applications, agents, retrieval systems or AI-enabled workflows.
- Strong Python and API integration skills with practical experience in orchestration frameworks.
- Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector search, graph retrieval, tool use and evaluation.
- Ability to reason about ontology, business rules, identity, grain, time and provenance.
- Security-minded approach to permissions, auditability and controlled action.
- Ability to explain system behavior and tradeoffs to both engineers and business leaders.
Especially valuable
- Experience with enterprise agent platforms, MCP, GraphRAG or hybrid retrieval.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI or comparable ecosystems.
- Knowledge of RDF/OWL/SHACL, knowledge graphs, semantic layers or policy-as-code.
- Experience operationalizing AI under regulatory, privacy or security constraints.
What success looks like
Agents inherit approved enterprise context instead of recreating it independently. Their answers and actions are more consistent, evidence-based, permission-aware and reusable across use cases.
