Role profile
Semantic Architect
Shape the shared conceptual structures that allow business leaders, data platforms and intelligent systems to interpret the enterprise consistently.
The mandate
Lead the translation of enterprise strategy and domain knowledge into durable semantic structures. You will work with executives, subject-matter experts, architects and engineers to define how important concepts relate, where meanings diverge and how approved meaning should guide data and AI implementation.
What you will own
- Frame semantic architecture around consequential business decisions and transformation priorities.
- Lead discovery across capabilities, processes, applications, information domains and policy.
- Shape conceptual models, enterprise meaning blueprints, ontologies and knowledge architectures.
- Reconcile competing definitions without erasing legitimate contextual differences.
- Connect semantic intent to enterprise data models, knowledge graphs, contracts and AI context patterns.
- Communicate complex structures through lucid executive narratives and decision-ready visuals.
- Define governance, ownership and conformance expectations that teams can actually operate.
What you bring
- Substantial experience in enterprise data, information, semantic or knowledge architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate senior business and technology stakeholders through ambiguity.
- Strong conceptual and logical modeling judgment, including grain, lifecycle, hierarchy and relationship design.
- Working knowledge of ontology, knowledge graphs, metadata, data contracts and AI grounding.
- Ability to distinguish useful enterprise structure from exhaustive documentation.
- Excellent writing, presentation and consulting communication.
Especially valuable
- Experience across regulated or operationally complex industries.
- Familiarity with RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, graph platforms or modern metadata ecosystems.
- Experience connecting enterprise models to Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or comparable platforms.
- Consulting experience with measurable transformation outcomes.
What success looks like
Clients can see their enterprise more clearly, resolve important semantic disagreement earlier and reuse approved meaning across projects. Architecture is not left as documentation: it becomes a practical foundation for decisions, platforms and AI.
